ttfn 2025
goals, own-goals
Over the last few days, I’ve laid out some of my predictions for the new year, and listed what I want more and less of during it. I will not add to these lists—I’m done playing Nostradamaged—but I will plop them here.
I’m going to do three things in this post:
Jot down some goals for the new year, in blogging and life
List all the writers on Substack I hate
Make a self-listicle with three categories of my posts from last year: the saltiest, the most fun to write, and the ones about stuff that made my life better
Actually, upon reflection, prayer, and conversation with my PR team, I’m not doing the second bullet there. You already know who you are!!!
Goals
For blog
I have a few plans for this here blog. I’m not going to set any goals for growth because I am aware my scatterbrained topic selection is not marketable. But there are some things I aim to do with my blog, because I do what I want.
I want to have some conversations with people aloud, whether live or not. I am a yapper.
My next real project on here is the Femininities Past series. It’s a prequel of sorts to Post-Femcel Femininity, and I introduced it in that project’s afterword. (The title of a book-length post gets italicised, I don’t make the rules.) I have some brilliant guest writers lined up for Femininities Past, and if any hypothetical reader wants to hypothetically write about a past style of femininity, lemme know.
The smaller, immediate goal is to get out a couple of drafts I’ve been sitting on for weeks or months, whether because they expanded in scope in ways I’m struggling to manage, or in one case, because I’m squeamish on behalf of hypothetical readers. Like, I don’t know how accustomed people are to reading about tearing one’s own oesophagus. Probably not at all, I reckon.
I also want to do more joky posts. I know people often don’t find me funny but I like permitting myself the occasional jape. I do what I want!
For normal life
Find people to discuss Greek with! Or to teach Greek to! I need Greek back in my life.
Make some new words happen. “Clicksome,” for example.
Get to some books I’ve been putting off, specifically including Killing the Dead: Vampire Epidemics from Mesopotamia to the New World by John Blair, Pynchon’s latest, Olga Tokarczuk’s The Books of Jacob, and the Theology of the Body.
Start submitting things to actual outlets until they’re tired of my spam.
Get a better skincare regimen. I have extremely dry skin and for some reason have yet to prioritise ameliorating that.
Go clothes shopping more often. (Not kidding.)
Self-listicle!!!
My readership remains hypothetical, but almost all of it is from the latter half of this year. I had like -8 subscribers until July and now I have about 7. Last I checked. So, a few of the posts below may never have appeared in most inboxes or feeds that I’m now appearing in, and some are just fun for me to think back on.
First, I’ll list the posts I had most fun writing this year, then my saltiest posts of the year (whether or not the salt I felt made it into the final draft’s tone), and then my posts related to self-improvement.
Funnest posts to write/concoct
Saltiest posts
Posts about ideas/situations/practices that improved my life
Okay, that’s all. This is an unambitious post. Ta-ta for now, 2025; I’m sure I’ll be revisiting you. And happy 2026 to all the malachim who might happen upon this post.
